This digital poster is named Tapestry Connections, and it expresses my love of history and educating students from high school on up. History is always delegated to a timeline and names, but there is so much more to it. History is not just events, but everything that surrounds a persons life: food, health, fashion, reading material, even the wheel. For centuries, the shape of the wheel has provided so much to us, especially transportation.
My desire is to peak a persons interest in history so much, that they’ll want to go search for themselves, not just take what is taught to them. I want to prompt thoughts that they never thought of with history, that we are all apart of this tapestry of life, connected through the centuries.
I like simplicity and that’s one element I try incorporating in my project. Not a lot of pictures, just enough to support what I’m saying. I want all the elements to be aligned. No scrolling with just enough words to let the reader know what the poster is about. I did use shadowing on several images. I like logical order where everything is in place and that the reader understands what the poster is reflecting. No guessing.
I feel the project is clean and to the point. I used grids to make sure everything is properly lined up. I used different style font and color for each letter for the word Tapestry. This draws the eye to it. I try to make it easy on the eyes. No confusion as to what I’m trying to convey. I kept the same style with Tapestry Connections throughout the poster. It’s important to maintain consistency.
If this was a web page, a web link would be provided to help the user to move to other pages. People don’t like to click a lot, and 2 clicks is about as far as they’ll usually go. I’m that way as well. As with other projects, I will give it a KISS- Keep It Simple Sweetie.
